So we have learned that brick buildings built in the 1800's need ALOT of TLC-- alot alot. Currently the Brick Doctor is back at the Inn fixing the lining on the back chimney, getting it ready to fully functional so that the new wood stove that has been installed in the library can start burning wood! Yay!Sometimes it is AMAZING to think about all the hidden work that has gone into getting this beautiful building ready to take guests. It feels like there won't be a corner untouched once it is complete. It can feel discouraging when you have to put time and energy into a house project that doesn't make it "look pretty" but in the end, HAS to be done.
What is something you have had to do in your home that HAD to be done but wasn't as fun as painting or tiling?

Ahhh yes--hidden work. We were all pumped to renovate our kitchen when our front lawn sank and we discover that the copper pipe that connects to the mains needed to be replaced and in order to that we had to excavate the front lawn! Discovered a 100 year old well in the process :)
Gotta love owning a home!
When we put a new floor in our recently purchased first home, we discovered sheets of old newspaper perfectly intact. Not as old as your home, certainly, but 1938 news was pretty cool. Particularly the society pages...
It's Molls, BTW and I'm ready to offer any gardening help you may need this spring. Just let me know!
XOXO
I decided to knock out a few temproary walls the night before the guy who determines the value of your home for refinance or mortgage came out. In the process of knocking out the walls I broke the main drain pipe from the kitchen, it was stinky and all corroded inside. I call my mom who told me to put a bag of coal next to the pipe to take care of the smell, then I got a plumber there to fix it right before the guy showed up.
I only had to miss a couple morning classes to get it all taken care of.
We have a leak we are trying to find where it's coming in from. I hate that we are probably going to have to take the stucco off the outside of the house to find it. Such a pain.
Eradicating bats.
I asked my dear hubby this question and he said:, " cleaning up water damage" I say, " fixing clogged toilets! LOL"
