Our family has had a tradition of eating hamburgers & root beer floats on Christmas Eve that began in my mom's family in the 40's. To us, this combination of food = Christmas Eve.
Another Snapdragon family has egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches Christmas morning, and a pot of Tortilla soup on the stove for people to munch on the rest of the day.
In New Zealand, where Christmas is in the summer, the table is loaded with fresh berries as well as lollies, chocolates, waffles, bagels, cream and the list could just go on and on...

my family always has tomato corn chowder on christmas eve, and a big turkey dinner on christmas day. we also have a big breakfast on christmas day, which is the only time of the year we all eat breakfast together.
When we were in FL, we'd have fish chowder with my in-laws on Christmas Eve.
The table on Christmas Day always has a big ham on it. From the table it goes to the counter where we pick at the rest of the day.
We don't have any special Christmas Eve meals, but Christmas Day usually consists of a meal that very much resembles Thanksgiving all over again. Sometimes we get a little crazy and substitute ham for turkey :) The one holiday beverage we MUST partake in each holiday season is egg nog! And my mom always has an arsenal of tins of popcorn.
We have a big breakfast, but honestly now that we are holder and can sleep in, it sometimes turns into lunch. My dad makes pecan waffles, my mom makes the rest; eggs, kilbasa sausage ( must be burned to be good), biscuits, and grits. My favorite part of Christmas day.
My favorite part of Christmas is getting together with all the family for Christmas day-- everyone brings their own dish and the 16 foot table is filled with amazing delicious food! Usually my dad also makes his "famous" Australian Pavlova. Yum! Then we all go upstairs and perform musical/theatrical numbers for each other :)
We always have egg casserole on Christmas morning -- an artery-clogging concoction of egg, sausage, and cheese over bread, baked in the oven. Sure, you can make it with Egg Beaters and fake sausage, and many of those options make for very tasty variations. But some good, natural VT maple sausage, fresh eggs, and real cheese...mmmmmmmm! It's a recipe given to my mom by her sister, and we all make it every year, whether we're together or not.
My mom always used to make something she got from my dad's southern relatives: egg cheese. It's exactly like it sounds. Every year we would each eat the two teaspoons you can get down before angina sets in and be in heaven. Mom also made what she called "petal bread" but I've since heard referred to as "monkey bread" - yeasty rolls baked with gooey cinnamon icing. So delicious.
Eggnog Gingerbread Trifle is a holiday must! Very easy to make and so yummy:
Ingredients-
* 1 (14.5 ounce) package gingerbread cake mix
* 3 cups eggnog
* 1 (5.1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
* 2 cups heavy cream
* 1/4 cup white sugar
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries, chopped (optional)
* 2 tablespoons gingersnap cookie crumbs (optional)
Directions-
1. Prepare gingerbread cake mix and bake according to package directions (any size pan). Cool completely.
2. Place the pudding mix in a large bowl. Pour in the eggnog and whisk for about 2 minutes. Refrigerate pudding until the gingerbread cake is cool and you are ready to assemble the trifle.
3. In a large bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks are just about to form. Beat in sugar and vanilla until peaks form.
4. Crumble 1/2 of the gingerbread into the bottom of a trifle bowl or a large glass bowl. Spread 1/2 of the eggnog pudding over the gingerbread, then spread 1/2 of the whipped cream on top of the pudding. Repeat the layers with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped cream. Refrigerate 6 hours or overnight. Sprinkle the top with the cranberries and cookie crumbs before serving.
Footnotes-
*You can use already made whipped cream, but I prefer to flavor my whipped cream myself. You can substitute bourbon for the vanilla extract in the whipped cream if you like.
*If you use low fat eggnog for the pudding, your pudding will be loose.

Christmas is always about the ham. Everything else is usually exactly the same as Thanksgiving, but the meat is ham instead of turkey. So not only do the presents make Christmas better than Thanksgiving, the food, due to ham's superiority over turkey, is better too!
I always have to have homemade cinnamon monkey bread for Christmas. It's a tradition!
Eggnog french toast, eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate for Christmas breakfast. We are usually too full to eat Christmas dinner ;-)
My favorite part of Christmas dinner is the desert afterwards. My mom makes an incredible sour cream apple pie that I always look forward to eating.
Hi guys! We have a "floor picnic" every christmas eve--we eat hot dogs an hamburgers and potato chips on a blanket in the living room. It's one of my favorite traditions.
We go to an Indian restaurant every Christmas Eve and Christmas day is a mini-Thanksgiving. Ready to eat now!

The Jew in our family introduced us to the wonders of Chinese food on Christmas eve. The next morning it takes a giant french toast casserole to soak up all the grease.

Christmas morning we have a European brunch - croissants, fancy deli meats, gourmet cheeses, homemade eggnog, fruit and hot cocoa. My favorite meal of the season!

We generally just have a lot of food. This begins on Thanksgiving day and continues until January 1, when our New Year's Resolutions kick in. Specifically, mashed potatoes is a must.
Cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, with a fruit platter to balance out the bad carbs! ;) Big dinner with all the fixins, either ham or roast beef. My mom found the best recipe for a roast beef rack that you coat in sea salt and braise before baking; it keeps the juices in and makes an amazing flavorful crust!
Now I'm hungry again.
My Grandmothers brussels sprouts! We always discusss whether ot not they are "right" every year! She would always make them from her little tattered recipe. We try to get them to taste the same as when she made them. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes not!
We always have Christmas breakfast here at our house for Joel's side of the family. We make all the usual breakfast stuff, but this breakfast we get to have steak! I don't know why, but beef and eggs has become a family tradition ya ya we are weird :)

Even though we are Jewish and dont technically celebrate Christmas, we always had a little Christmas tree because my mom loved the holiday. Wed put a few of our Chanukkah presents under the tree and have a big turkey dinner with our family the night before. Now being married to someone not Jewish, I feel like I grew up with an appreciation for many different holidays and traditions and LOTS of good food=)
Potato latkes are delicious no matter what holiday it is!
In my family, we always have "breakfast pizza" for Christmas morning: flatbread with scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese. Delish. My husband's father is Ukrainian, so part of Christmas dinner ALWAYS involves "Christmas Keilbasie," as they call it. This year, we are having jewish guests for Christmas Eve, so we will be having brisket and other Kosher dishes! : )
We eat a snacky breakfast when we take a break from opening and have homemade cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. We also eat clementines from our stockings. For an early dinner/late lunch, we have spiral ham, maple glazed carrots, homemade rolls, and a delicious, but terrible-for-you pan of sour cream scalloped potatoes.
I just HAVE to win.
Our longest-standing tradition is baking day the weekend before Christmas. My mom and I spend all day making treats for friends and Santa.
We always have Romanian food like my grandmothers used to make for our New Year's Day dinner.
My whole life we've had quiche for Christmas Brunch. I never really enjoy quiche but on Christmas it always tastes so good. Funny how memories can do that to your taste buds
