Before, During, and After: Maxwell Perkins Library

We present, The Maxwell Perkins Library at Snapdragon Inn. It has gone through a bit of a transformation. We closed up a door (spa room will be on the other side), built new bookcases, stripped the wallpaper, re mudded, took down the drop ceiling, put up a new one, took out the old stove and put in a Vermont Castings Stove and made it look inviting. This wall paper was NOT easy to get off and I think Big Red spent days in there working on it but doesn't it look lovely. I think it is ready for book groups, literary conferences, and afternoon teas.

I think as many renovations projects go, you never take enough before pictures. We did take some and you get the idea but as renovations and decorations taper off, we need to clean up our hard drives and organize ALL of our pictures. Until that point, we will post what we can organize.

Families

This is a photo taken at the open house of many of us with the family that called 26 Main home before we bought it from them. It was so exciting to see their faces as they wandered in and out of every room. Apparently at one point, each of their daughters mentioned to their parents that they wanted to get married at the Snapdragon Inn and we would LOVE to have them. Here are a few pictures of the rooms before they moved. I think the kids liked seeing the transformation of their bedrooms. It was so great to have them there to share the day with us. Everyone who has lived or visited 26 Main feels a connection to this lovely home.

Wow, what a weekend. Thank you to all who came out to our Sneak Peek Party on Saturday. Miraculously, it all came together and looked lovely. There are still some final touches and lots of tweaks but we are nearly there and will continue to share as we inch closer and closer to our Grand Opening on September 1st 2010.

There are many many more photos to share and will the rest of the week.

New fountain

We knew it was the one right when we saw it

It reminded me of India but just a back field at Brimfield

We also found this perfect little fountain for the front yard at Brimfield. No urinating cherubs, glowing orbs, or hopping frogs.
We already have an existing stone for it to sit on and water that runs to it so we just needed a new fountain and here she is! We paid for it at the main booth but then drove to a back field to pick it up. Kind of looks like a fountain graveyard doesn't it? But literally within minutes they had all the pieces to our little fountain and even used tape to number how they went together.

We really have been that busy and I haven't gotten any pictures but it is actually unbelievable how far the Inn has come in the past week. Things are moving fast!

CALLING ALL CURTAIN HEMMERS...
If you or anyone you know could help us hem some curtains by Saturday ( I know short notice) please contact Chris @ 802 299 6039 or email chris@sublimeeye.com.

Dear loyal blog followers: Sneak Peek Party

We are busy busy busy over in Windsor, Vermont. The completed walkway looks fantastic (pix to come) and we are all furiously working on everything. The lack of pictures this week will be compensated next week when we will have heaps more! Some historic photos arrived and will be hung in the Maxwell Perkins library. The library is really coming together but we would love to locate a game table like this one but taller and with a drawer for the pieces. Any thoughts?

We are busily getting the Inn ready for our Sneak Peak Party this Saturday. Yesterday the remaining head boads were mounted, doors were final coated, mirrors were picked out, some final bits of furniture were painted, front walkway was begun and the cleaning continues.

Got any 78s?

Success was had at Brimfield once again.
We came home with this gem for the library.
Pretty cool huh?

It is from 1913 and plays 78s.
Know anyone with some because we are in the market?

Some "good bones"

Everyday, the car park is packed with people who are helping us get closer and closer to opening this baby. The other day I was at JoAnns getting some fabric and the woman who helped me asked what I was doing and I told her about the project and she knew exactly which house it was and was so excited to know what all the work at that house was. She said that she has spent a lot of time in quintessential New England towns and that Windsor has some great "bones" as she said with beautiful architecture. Thanks Marianne! That was just what I needed to hear.

We've got running water in Bathroom 8

It was another busy weekend with a birthday party for the Inn baby who is more like the Inn kid now. We have lots of subcontractors in finishing up electric, plumbing, door hardware, outside painting besides the fury of activity to get the rooms designed and looking perfect and finishing up remaining pieces of furniture.
Print material is being laid out and the website is looking fantastic.
There is waaaaaaaay more going on than just this but I need to get on with the day ;)

Happy Monday and here's to another productive week!
