New Video Series Documents Creativy at Snapdragon Inn

Many of us have written on the blog about the Cornish Colony at the intersection of the history of 26 Main Street (Snapdragon Inn) with many of the members of the Cornish Colony or their creative friends. This was a place of art. It was filled with creative people and great thinkers. It was a place of summer plays in the backyard, readings, storytelling, and of course the occasional famous visitor. This web series will help to educate and hopefully recapture some of that creative spirit. Already, Snapdragon Inn is filling with original photography, local paintings, the writings of local authors, and even impromptu musical performance. We hope to capture a few of those moments and share them with everyone. Enjoy.

New project in the works

The Inn makes a great back drop for photos and filming and the history of the home and area is so rich. It's hard not to get wrapped up in it again and again. We have some projects in the works that we are excited to share with you in the coming days. It might not be as funny as our Christmas video, but definitely a fun project.

Bridal Show

How is it Wednesday already? On that same note, how is nearly February?

As promised, here are a few pictures of our booth at the bridal show this past weekend. It was a great chance to meet some other vendors, do a little market research, and get our name out there. We tried not to have too much clutter on our table but still give the contemporary and fresh feel of the Inn. It was a great event.

More snow and getting ready for...

Our first Bridal show on Sunday. We are looking forward to setting up our table and getting to know some of the other vendors in our area. It looks like the storm has passed and the skies are clear so hopefully we can get out now to pick up odds and ends for the show. 3 storms in the last 10 days. Winter in Vermont.

Happy Weekend!

Movies!

We watch a lot of movies so it's always a good time when the awards come around every year. It's also interesting to watch the fads and trends on the red carpets (See below: Helena Bonham Carter). "True Grit" and "The King's Speech" were high on our lists with Bridges and Firth as long time favorites. Although, Robert Duvall was brilliant in the lesser known "Get Low". Aaron Sorkin's succinct writing of "The Social Network" was certainly deserving of the award won over the weekend. We could go on and on. What have been your favorite movies of the past year? Or did you have a favorite red carpet look? We are still fascinated/perplexed (not surprised) by HBC's look on Sunday night.

What to eat come winter time

Hello there-
I'm filling in for Chris this week while she takes a quick trip. And what with all the snow there in Vermont (18+ inches) it got me thinking about the comfort foods I love to eat when I am snowed in. That thought in turn lead me to think about my friend who loves to cook with vegetables that are in season.
What is in season in the middle of the freezing cold, dead winter? There are actually several vegetables, mostly root, that can make for a hearty stew or side dish on a blustery mid-winter's evening. Here are a few suggestions if you are looking to try something new on these snowy days. I guess that is if you can get to the grocery store.

Stay warm!

Happy Birthday Big Red!

Saturday we celebrated one of our innkeepers' birthdays. He is also known as, dad, grampy, and Big Red amidst our group. He keeps the Inn in stellar condition and is able to make the guests feel right at home. He is reliable, loving, thoughtful, quite the funny man and doesn't look his age one bit. Happy Birthday!

October Wedding

Remember when we got a year's worth of Rain at the end of September/early October? We had to move our first wedding inside but it worked out seamlessly and Rob and Leilani were wed in the Maxwell Perkins library at the Snapdragon Inn on October 1st, 2o10.

There are a few more pictures from their beautiful day on the sublime eye site. The bride said this about her day,
I enjoy living in the city of Boston, but also driving through New Hampshire and into Vermont to enjoy the beautiful layers of blue hills, evergreen trees and colorful rock is one of my favorite ways to "soak-in" the area. My husband and I chose the Snapdragon Inn for our wedding location last month, and we loved everything about it! The house itself is historic, and the decor inside is inviting and calming, and appealed to our artistic senses. The lawn and garden around the Inn are open and lush with color, and the local lake is just steps away... go here to read on.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Your friends at the Snapdragon Inn

Winners and Donations

We sent off the certificates this morning to all of our winners from the
"12 Nights of Christmas" giveaway last month. It's amazing that was already a month ago and we're 5 days into 2011. Time...

We also got the canned goods, that we raised on Day 10 of the giveaway, over to the Food Shelf at the church neighboring the Inn.

It's been a productive morning. And you?
